About me
Joshua Slack is an actor, writer, photographer and director and is the Cultural Organizer for Pan Valley Institute. He serves as a vessel to bring life to his community by telling stories and depicting images of those from marginalized backgrounds at the forefront. He has studied at Fresno State, majoring in both Theater Arts - Acting emphasis, and Africana Studies, as well as studied at Stella Adler: Art of Acting Studio in Los Angeles and is also the minister of music at his church Philadelphia Outreach Ministries. He was also a Fellow during the 2021-2022 cohort of the Pan Valley Institute ArteVism Fellowship, where he wrote and performed in his own solo performance, "CODESWITCH". He also was Fellow during the 2023-2024 cohort where he co-wrote, directed, and starred in a play, “My Relationship With America.” Joshua has directed plays that examine the black/african american experience with “Fairview” at UR Here Theatre, and “The Brothers Size” at the Selma Arts Center. Along with Nwachukwu Oputa and Wade Pierson, Joshua is a part of the collective known as Diaspora Dreams: Celebrating Black & African Stories. Joshua was a part of the BreakBox Thought Collective AIR Program, where he produced and starred in the Diaspora Dreams Production of “TOPDOG/UNDERDOG”. When he is not performing, Joshua is often serving his community as an activist, speaker, and cultural organizer. His purpose is to provide his gifts and talents as a vessel to tell stories, and to give a voice to the voiceless in his community.
